Meet Nych G

What up GoodLifers. I would like to take the time out and bring you what I call a GoodLife classic. This yung talent by the name of Nych G is coming up fast. If you don't know him, after reading this interview you most definitely will, and become a fan. Lets see what the backpacker had to say to the Campaign!

GLC: So how long you been an MC?

Nych G: I was in high school and my mother was on vacation so I stole my mothers Ford Escort to go to my girlfriends house for Valentines Day. She bought me Kanye West, College Dropout album and the dreaming started at Track 1. Shout out to my girl...you know who you are.

GLC: Since you are fairly new, tell us what you are bringing to the table with your music?

Nych G: What I bring is me, lol nothing less. You might hear a song on some east town backpacker type stuff one minute, then hear a song that the most gangster person in the world could respect the next. I'm very comfortable with being me. I think people feel that.

GLC: What has been your greatest accomplishment so far in your career?

Nych G: Haha its simple lol. PEOPLE CAN SAY MY NAME. Its spelled hella awkward lol, so I get "Neech" "Neek" you name it lol, but seriously the fact the city I grew up in (Grand Rapids) is showing massive amounts of support is the biggest goal I've touched.

GLC: Do you look up to any other local artist?

Nych G: Of course I do, my Primo Profaci, Elevate, the big homie ajax stacks, j king, and thats just to name a few. Grand City is packed full of talented artis. I love that.

GLC: Being from Grand Rapids, do you feel that your music career can take off there. And tell us the best thing musically about the city?

Nych G: I see it like this. We are a small market city that's making the transition into becoming a big market city... how can we lose?  People immediately think of Detroit when they think of Michigan, not G.R.  Lol whats better then being the under dog that comes out on top.  Being in a small market isn't a bad thing, but going at your career like your in a small market is.  My team and people I affiliate myself with all think we live in South Beach anyway lol.

GLC: What obstacles did you have to overcome to get this far?

Nych G: Just believing in myself.  Its always nice to hear a compliment and its easy to accept it, but at the end of the day if you don't look yourself in the mirror and believe your dope, compliments mean zero.  This isn't a hobby or something I'm doing occasionally, its my passion and it was hard to relay that message to people but they'll catch on. lol

GLC: What is your inspiration to your music?

Nych G: Life....My sons deserve a lot more than I've had, and I'm going to make that happen. Plain and simple.

GLC: What are the things about being a rapper that you most enjoy?

Nych G: Man, so many to name, but I'm going to have to say the best thing is the different venues. Traveling to new venues  I've never stepped foot in and being presented with the challenge of grasping the crowds attention, although they've never heard me before. Yea, that feeling is dope.

GLC: If you had 25 dollars and you had to get something to eat, drink, and something to listen to, what would they be?

Nych G: Food wise... We hitting Denny's for zesty nachos with extra sour cream and a raspberry ice tea. My sis works there so I don't gotta leave a tip. Musically I'd probably go get Kanye West College Dropout album. I bet Yeezy is still doing numbers off that.

GLC: Top 5 MC's

Nych G: Of all time in my book... B.I.G, Jay-Z, Az, Nas, and Canibus, but I'm a keep it real, I wasn't an avid Rap listener until Kanye West, so my personal top 5 are, Kanye West, J. Cole, Wale, Chip Tha Ripper, and Curren$y...backpackers unite lol.

GLC: Any advice for the up and coming?

Nych G: Live like you can die tomorrow because you can. Put your heart into whatever your doing and realize somebody is always coming for your spot.

GLC: Shout outs? And where can the people go to listen to your music, or any shows? And what you got coming up?

Nych G: Well I just did Billy's Lounge in East Town for my homies album release party. I have a mixtape dropping soon, then shortly following after that will be the album. I'm currently in the process of creating my personal website. So for now people can check out www. reverbnation.com/itsmenychg  for the latest music.
